Patients Speak Up on Social Determinants of Health
There is growing recognition that a person’s health status is primarily driven by factors like lifestyle behaviors and environment, commonly called social determinants of health (SDOH). Given their impact on health and how they can be used to predict current and future healthcare needs, more providers are leveraging SDOH variables to better target and engage patients with personalized messaging, care and resources that meet their specific situation and interests.
We surveyed 2,000 adults nationwide for fresh insights on SDOH, answering questions like:
- Do patients understand what contributes to their health?
- Are they willing to share SDOH factors with their health provider?
- What are their biggest obstacles to achieving optimal health?
